Hi,
Got a new N2R1 (NC1) configured with 2* 1TB disks and an additional 1TB eSATA disk attached to it!
It's all running on firmware version 2504 now!
A big problem that i realized after adding the eSATA disk (Formatted with EXT3) is that it's not possible to access this disk remotely using the web based GUI from a remote location!
You can't define it as a volume or create folders in the GUI, not even set user or group access restrictions to it! It's only available on the local LAN as a SAMBA share named "esata" and that is a huge limit to the LG NAS device!
Maybe this is also the case with USB disks, that you may attach? (Any one that knows?)
Is there any one that knows how to forward SW enhancement requests to LG product engineering in this forum?
Please help us and forward such requests or give us a clue about how to do it 🙂
Initially i had some problems with the eSATA disk, but i guess they were because of the disk was formatted with NTFS from the beginning! I did reformat it with the free "gparted boot disk" to EXT3 format on a PC, but did also replace the eSATA cable at the same time.
(Will investigate that some more.)
So my enhancement request for the SW for the LG NAS are:
(Atleast for all registered users.)
(Simply by monitoring if the network interface goes down for 2minute, do a shutdown)
(Status monitoring, Photo/video upload, streaming of video....)
(Simply setup an email account, have the NAS to automatic download mail attachments to a folder.)
This are my suggestions 😉
Did any one use "Dropbox" ?
It's a nice way of sharing files, between PC's, Smartphones and MAC's!
Would be greate to have on the LG NAS device, to have simple remote client apps to access it...
Just an ide of a nice simpe GUI...
Still i can use the current interface it's woking ok, but i would love to see some dvelopment in this area.
The most important thing is to add eSATS devices to be available by the WEB gui!
So that you can access the eSATA disk remotely, or maybe also an USB attached disk!!
